Rooftops would obviously have to be excluded
it could also help to comeback from being redlined
Hello there, Juno. And good post. It shows you are thinking strategically (and honestly, even many Proto-vets have trouble thinking strategically in Dust matches). Although RDV deliveries can't really be placed "anywhere" on the map (GǪthere is actually a whole Dust strategy-chapter that can be discussed about "the do's and don'ts of good RDV calls"), and am one of the players who was always interested in keeping a heavy amount of DIFFICULTY in calling down vehicles. There was a time when we were even requesting that the "ETA" of your drop be INCREASED as your location gets further away from the friendly MCC (deeper in enemy territory), and that the blues nearest the MCC should be the only ones who get instant drop service in 3 seconds or less.
Calling in the "right" vehicle at the right time will turn a "slaughter by the reds at Objective C" into "an heroic blue stand and match-win at Charlie-point". Just like running to a supply depot and changing into the right AV suit can turn the entire fire-fight around. So, like the Supply Depot's scarce distribution around the map adds a healthy amount of DIFFICULTY for changing into an AV suit, the RDV should also be kept difficult and risky---not be made TOO easy for players to initiate.
I like that the darn thing takes so long to float in and drop your vehicle to you. I like that the enemy can see is like a blimp from the other end of the map, and (if she's smart) knows you're probably about to try some sort of vehicle incursion into the fight. I also like that hasty and reckless RDV calls can still cause your buddies to their lives in crashes, or leave your vehicle hung up because the Balos got confused by your chosen location. RDVs ought to stay somewhat challenging.
But even though I'm against your idea, like I said, it 's a good strategic idea. Kudos.
Universe of good wishes for the 49, especially CCP Eterne...
